The way to make money without being a business-slave is to develop products that sell themselves while pursuing other less profitable ventures. When those products are tools that make virtual life workable, the resulting momentum is enviable.

• EXPERIMENT:
“I don’t see SL in terms of challenges—there is stuff I can do and stuff I can’t do. If I want to learn the stuff I can’t do, then there are facilities in SL to do so. It was when I managed the SL 9th Birthday Celebration that I saw mesh emerge. Then I decided to learn it. But I didn’t say ‘I’m going to conquer the mesh challenge.’ I just said ‘I’m going to learn mesh—something else I can do to keep SL interesting.’ A year later I’m building mesh nuclear reactor towers with space rockets inside!” —KT Syakumi, entrepreneur, owner of IntelliGroup
